Don’t Miss The Opening Act!

One thing, I’ve never been able to understand about some other Concert Hoppers is why are they okay with missing the opening act. I mean I understand if you have to be late, because of work or something. Better late than never. I just don’t get why someone would miss an opening act on purpose. You have to pay the same ticket price whether you see all performers or just the headliner. Don’t you want more music for your money?
This happens almost every time I catch a concert. The opener starts and only 2% (that’s a guess, fuck math) of the night’s crowd is there. And it’s just me and a few other people getting into it and dancing hard like we’re trying to burn off a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Then next thing, I know the headliner is halfway through their set and the venue has sold out. I know way too many people are here right now who weren’t here last song. Who the fuck are y’all?
Opening acts become headliners. Don’t deprive yourself of good music that you’re already paying for. Get there on time and dance! Take my advice and fall in love with an opener. Thank me later.

I lectured Donny on this topic once.

P.S. Half Baked is my favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, if you want to thank me with a pint.

About Taryn Balwinski

Taryn Balwinski is the boss lady of ConcertHopper.com. She lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee and loves it. When she isn’t concert hopping, street teaming, or blogging, Taryn works full-time in Administrative Support for the non-profit mentioned in that Macklemore song. She also finds time to eat spicy food and sleep. You can find her up against the rail or on the ADA platform during the show. Yoko Ono’s “Bad Dancer” is her theme song. She started the site as a music themed personal blog, but soon decided the project would be more fun with friends.
