My Morning Jacket: 7/22/2015 Lewiston, NY

Touring in support of their new album, The Waterfall, My Morning Jacket came to Lewiston, NY, a small town about a half hour north of Buffalo. My Morning Jacket is an American rock band from Louisville, KY.  I recently just caught My Morning Jacket at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival where they put on a great performance and I knew I had to see them again as soon as possible! They played at the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater which is one my personal favorite venues! Jim James (lead singer of My Morning Jacket) even spoke to the crowd after one of their songs about how beautiful Artpark is and that it is one of the best venues in the country alongside Red Rocks and The Gorge!

My Morning Jacket came out strong opening with “In Its Infancy (The Waterfall)”  and really got the crowd going. People were singing and cheering loudly and Jim James and company fed off the energy the whole night. They continued on the set with a perfect blend of new and older hits from their discography, and even some deeper cuts you might not always hear. One of my personal favorite moments of the concert was when they played “Victory Dance” as the sun was setting. Just a beautiful thing to watch the sun go down in the Niagara Gorge as My Morning Jacket jams a great song. After ending the main set with “Mageetah”; which was incredible, My Morning Jacket came back out to a roaring crowd to perform an amazing encore.  They played 4 songs in the encore with each song building up energy until they closed with “One Big Holiday” which had the crowd going crazy!

I was always a huge fan of My Morning Jacket, but seeing them perform live is just a whole different experience. It hard to explain even to a fan of their studio work, just how good they are in a live setting. I currently have seen My Morning Jacket twice this summer and I am already making plans to see them again soon. That’s just how good they are. They are one of those bands that you just can’t get enough of. With another studio album due out in 2016, I can’t wait for another tour and I also personally hope they get to return to Bonnaroo next year to close out the festival!
