Hey all, Detroit Donny here. I’ve decided to try something new because I’ve always wanted to review the concerts I attend. I’m calling it Detroit Donny’s Quick Concert Review. Yeah, I think it’s quite a creative name. Anyway, this is the first one and it’s a humdinger.
On February 27, I went to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit to see The Who, a band that has been around for 50 years. I had high hopes for this show and I was blown away. Damn near every song was a classic. The show started with “Who Are You” and ended with “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. How is that for musical bookends?
The highlight for me was “Love, Reign O’er Me”. Roger Daltrey’s vocals can still belt it out with ease. I felt every bit of emotion that both his voice and song had to offer. It’s always a special moment when a live song gives me the chills. Come on, it’s happened to all of you!
Singing along with a capacity crowd at the Joe to “Join Together” is a live show memory that will stay with me for a long time to come. Check out the incredible set list from the show.
That was the first show of their tour. Check out the rest of their The Who Hits 50! tour to see if they are hitting your town and go check them out. Their songs, Pete Townsend’s classic windmill, Roger Daltrey’s voice, and the fact that many believe this is their final tour are all reasons you can’t miss it.
Peace and love!
