STS9: Lift off at The Fillmore

Fresh off the release of their twelfth studio LP, The Universe Inside, STS9 touched down at The Fillmore in Charlotte recently to play a few hours to some of their most excited fans. It’s always a pleasure to see STS9 get together and jam because the end result always sounds beautiful. During this leg of their Get Loud tour, they had an amazing band named City of the Sun (COTS) as their opening support. If you are interested in catching STS9 on the Get Loud tour, they still have two more dates remaining with Modern Measure as their opener: Dallas, TX. (04/27/2017) and Houston, TX. (04/28/2017). I know I have a few friends in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who are definitely going to see STS9 play and I’m jealous because I wish I could be with them.

COTS is a NYC based indie rock trio fused with elements of gypsy jazz and some hints of Flamenco as well. Sounds pretty interesting? Well check out their official Soundcloud page to see just why STS9 brought this amazing trio on tour. Personally, I really enjoyed these guys and was very grateful that we were able to see them on their last show for the Get Loud tour with STS9. I can see COTS being added to some festivals in the near future, so definitely keep an eye out for this band.

For those of our readership who are not aware of STS9 (a.k.a. Sound Tribe Sector 9), check out their official Soundcloud page. Just be prepared to get up and dance the night away. STS9 was formed in Atlanta, Georgia back in 1998 and has gained a very, loyal fan base, and they will definitely do some traveling if need be to see this band perform. They started from humble beginnings, playing small clubs and venues across the United States in the early days and can presently, be seen steadily playing major North American music festivals -including selling out Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado on an annual basis. I can still remember seeing them play in the early 2000’s at a smaller, local venue in Augusta. Those were some great nights!
