Have you have ever wanted to watch great musical acts, walk along the river, enjoy some quality food, try different beers, and look at another county at the time? If so, the Mo Pop Festival is for you. If not, the Mo Pop Festival is still for you because it’s that much fun.
The Mo Pop Festival will take place on July 29–30th at the West Riverfront Park in Detroit. The West Riverfront Park is a great festival venue. The breeze coming off the water is enough to make the July heat tolerable. The sight lines are good so if you are vertically challenged or claustrophobic do not worry, you will have no problem finding a spot to watch all the sets.
Day one highlights include Foster the People, Run the Jewels, Phantogram, and Pvris. Each of those acts could sell out several Detroit venues. That same day you can also checkout Wavves, Anime, The Hunna, Mondo Cozmo, Jay Som, Michigander, and Humons.
Still want more? Head back to West Riverfront Park for day two and hear the sounds of Alt-J, Solange, Tyler the Creator, Vance Joy, Arkells, Pup, Middle Kids, Shadowboxers, White Reaper, Stef Chura, and Heaters.
The lineup has a bit of something for all music fans. The sets move from stage to stage and the music doesn’t stop. Your feet and face will hurt from smiling and dancing which is the way it should be.
Let me also say that the Mo Pop Festival isn’t just about music. When your tummy starts to rumble make sure to stop by the Food Truck Rally Alley for a variety of delicious eats prepared by some of the finest food trucks in Detroit.
Stop by the Craft Bazaar to browse handmade goods created by a eclectic mix of Detroit artists. Seriously, stop by because you never know what you will find and the quality is always great.
The Riverside Biergarten has a nice variety of beers to quench your thirst. It’s a great location to meet friends, try some new beers, and take a break from the sun.
The MO Arcade is there for your retro gaming needs. Stop in, cool off in the air-conditioned tent, and play some games from your youth. If you are young, play the games your parents enjoyed when they were your age. It’s gaming the way it used to be.
The Mo Pop Festival is always a great time. I have had the pleasure of going to the festival for the last 3 years. The festival is a great showcase for the city of Detroit. If you haven’t been to Detroit this is a great event to change that. You will discover an amazing city filled with awesome people who will welcome you with open arms.
