The Metalcore Dropouts 2nd Semester Tour Ft

After such an amazing first “Semester” of The Metalcore Dropouts tour. The boys in Fit For A King and The Devil Wears Prada decided to extend the tour. Back in October announcing that there would be a 2nd “semester” to this tour. They are hitting the road with Counterparts and Avoid for this run. Don’t miss out on this opportunity, the shows are selling out fast! I can’t wait to see what stops they pull out for this “Semester.” After arriving at the Town Ballroom in Buffalo on this snowy Tuesday, you can see the excitement on fans’ faces as they flood into the venue, trying to secure the “perfect” spot for this show.

First up on the bill is Avoid, a five-piece band breaking out from Seattle, Washington. Avoid shows a new experimental approach to their music, and they are ready to take over the world. This band has already won the hearts of fans. They secured a partnership with NASCAR back in 2020 and even had some of their songs featured on NASCAR’s Heat 5 video game. When the band stepped foot out on stage, they immediately were engaged with the crowd. Benny Scholl even wore a Buffalo Bills jersey. I loved the engagement with the crowd, there were many crowd surfers right out of the gate, and the band even got the entire venue to get down to the floor so when the beat dropped everyone would jump around and get even more excited for what was to come. These guys are a band I will be seeing again.

Counterparts is a Canadian melodic hardcore band formed in 2007. The band currently has 7 studio albums and 4 EP’s to date. The latest album is A Eulogy for Those Still Here. Seeing these guys on the bill got me excited. They kicked the show up a notch, with the heavy vocals from Brendan Murphy. The mosh pits intensified and were nonstop until their set's end. The band played “Bound to the Burn,No Servant of Mine”, and ended the night out strong with “Whispers of Your Death.”

The Devil Wears Prada is an American metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 2005. Almost every time this band comes to town, I have to go out and see the show. This band is an awesome co-headliner, they have so much energy, and they are constantly moving around, and even interacting with the fans. At one point a crowd surfer came over the barricade while we were still in the photo pit and Guitarist Joey Depoyster handed the security guard his hat back due to the influx of fans surfing. The band came out strong with the song “Exhibitionand played some awesome tracks: “Dez Moines”, “Chemical”, and “Salt” before closing out their set with “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?” One of my favorite parts of the night was seeing guitarist Kyle Sipress hand out guitar picks to some of the crowdsurfers at the end of the set. I can’t wait to see what these guys have up their sleeves next time they go back on the road.

Fit For A King is a metalcore band from Texas formed in 2007. The band has 7 albums released. The Hell We Create is their most recent. This album is the most personal and deepest record the band has written, taking inspiration from personal experiences. Fit For A King closed out the show, the stage presence and energy these guys bring to the table is honestly unmatched. Bassist Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary is a perfect example of this, he consistently jumps into the air, spinning around while still playing his bass. The band came out strong playing “End (The Other Side).” Fit For A King played new songs and old songs, it kept fans wanting more. At the end of the show Fit For A King, brought out AVOID to play “God Of Fire.”
