Rhythm N’ Blooms Fest has become a bit of an institution in Knoxville since its inception in 2008 as part of Dogwood Arts Festival and through its evolution into a standalone festival in 2010. So many artists, locally-revered and nationally-renowned, have made their way to one of the many festival stages to perform. From Dr. Dog and Deer Tick in 2018, to Bela Fleck and Wilco in 2009, and so many more, Knoxville’s welcomed a diverse array of artists! Keeping with the theme of American each year as well, Rhythm N’ Blooms’s organizers have found a way to truly capture the full breadth of that already broad genre.

This year’s no different as Rhythm N’ Blooms continues to capture that spirit of what’s made each year so notable with their early line-up announcements: Dawes, Tyler Childers, The Black Lillies, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and My Brightest Diamond.

The Black Lillies are from Knoxville and are quite the hometown favorite, having played the festival at least two times prior. Dawes, hailing from Los Angeles, along with My Brightest Diamond, based out of New York City, will both be making their return after performing at Rhythm N’ Blooms Fest back in 2013. First timers Tyler Childers, notable country singer-songwriter from Lawrence County, KY, and Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, currently on the road supporting Neil Young, will both be making their festival debut this upcoming May.

Long time attendees may have noticed I just said May, and that’s right Rhythm N’ Blooms is moving a few weeks later than regular festival goers are used to. Having spent my time at this year’s festival hovering around heaters, and embracing the warmth of the crowds, I appreciate the festival organizers delay of the festival by a few weeks, if only to allow for Spring time to more fully arrive.

Of course in addition to the weather heating up, we know the festival hype will heat up as well in the coming weeks and months, as more artists are added to the line-up. Ticket sales are live now though, so if you can’t wait already this is the time to secure your tickets for what will surely be a fantastic 10th year!.
