The Road to Resonance: Papadosio w/ Space Kadet - Night 2 (Terminal West)

Papadosio: The Road to Resonance

Papadosio: The Road to Resonance

Athens, Ohio natives Papadosio have been very busy over the last few weeks with the Content Coma Tour leading up to their festival, Resonance Music and Arts Festival. Don’t worry, I will talk about this festival a little more later on in this article. Instead, let us begin this review by talking about Papadosio. First, they started off by playing the Caverns in Pelham, Tennessee (August 10th, 2019) and then making the journey to play two (2) amazing sold out shows (August 16th & 17th, 2019) at Terminal West in Atlanta. Concerthopper was very fortunate to be at Saturday’s (Night 2) show with Space Kadet as the opening act. Papadosio’s lineup consists of Anthony Thogmartin (vocals/keyboards/production/guitar), Mike Healy (drums), Rob McConnell (bass/vocals), and (yes, they are brothers!)  Billy and Sam Brouse (vocals/keyboards).

I know… I know… I mostly do metal on my column, so what is going on here?! Something you should know about my music taste is that it is all over the place (within reason and talent). Jamtronica, which is a mixture of jam music blended with electronic sounds, has quickly become one my favorite genres ever since I was introduced to bands like STS9 and Papadosio (to name a few). Personally, I was really excited to hear them begin and end this night’s set with “Hippie Babysitter”. Witnessing Papadosio delicately interweave song after song, only to come right back to the beginning, brought the sold out crowd to a frenzy. I highly recommend taking the trip to see this band live one day at a festival or on one of their tour dates. Catch Papadosio on tour in 2019- follow this link to their tour page. You can listen to Papadosio by checking out their Official Soundcloud page today!

Local Atlanta favorites Space Kadet had the honor of opening up for Papadosio’s second night at Terminal West. The band consists of Alex Etheridge (bass/synth/production), Rohan Prakash (drums/samples), and Thomas Garret (guitar). Space Kadet melted the audience’s minds with a wicked good eight (8) song set that included “Hyderdrive”, “Behind the Mind”, Dream Sequence” and then closing it out with “Human Being”. This is an Atlanta band that I also recommend checking out live when they are playing at a venue near you. They’re a really tight trio that really brings out the STS9 vibes with a huge influence in hip-hop/dance music. You can follow Space Kadet on JamBase to see if they are playing near you anytime soon. Space Kadet actually first graced my column here at Concerthopper when they opened for The Floozies / So Down / Space Kadet: Live at Variety Playhouse, so give that article a read (or re-read). Also, don’t forget to check out some of Space Kadet's music over on Soundcloud today!

Resonance Music Festival (2019)

Ok, because I don’t want you to miss out on one of the best festival lineups to drop in 2019, here are some quick details about the Resonance Music and Arts Festival, which just happens to be coming up pretty quick. During the weekend of September 19th-22nd in Slippery Rock, PA. (at Coopers Lake), you could catch Tipper (2 nights), Tycho, Papadosio (4 sets), Umphrey’s McGee (2 sets), Pigeons Playing Ping Pong (5 sets), and Twiddle (3 sets). And that is just the main card without even touching the under card… don’t worry I went ahead and added a lineup poster so you can drool with the rest of us over here at Concerthopper.
