We Came as Romans Plants a Seed in Atlanta
There have been many things that I have missed since the entire world came screeching to a halt in the Spring of 2020. One of the most beloved things that I missed is the venerated Atlanta concert facility, The Masquerade. Thankfully, We Came As Romans reacquainted me with my old friend as their rescheduled stop for the “To Plant A Seed” 10th anniversary tour rumbled into Atlanta.
First to stroll out of the darkness inside of The Masquerade were Grand Rapids, Michigan’s own Hollow Front. Starting strong right out of the gate, the band brought a heavy metalcore punch from the word go. All of this raw power coalesced into an energetic and entertaining stage presence which quickly had the crowd ready for the rest of the evening.
With the crowd still reeling from Hollow Front, California’s Dayseeker took the stage next. This would be our second time being fortunate enough to see Dayseeker live and just like the first time, they did not disappoint. The crowd also had heard of Dayseeker as it became apparent. There were chants of Dayseeker echoed above the pre-set music and the hype carried over throughout the set and everyone was left awash in beautiful instrumentals against vocalist Rory Rodriguez’s powerful vocals.
Low lights with an amber hue set the tone as, straight out of Dayton, Ohio, The Devil Wears Prada took to The Masquerade’s legendary stage. With their robust catalogue of music behind them and a crowd who seemed thankful to have live music in front of them, the fact that four amazing bands were delivering it certainly didn’t hurt the matter. As the amber glow continue to bathe the stage, the band ripped through their set, bringing the crowd to a fever pitch ahead of the headlining performance.
Finally, the headliners from Troy, Michigan, We Came As Romans was ready to bring their music to the ears of those in attendance. One of the interesting things to me at shows is to watch the breakdown and set up of each band’s set pieces and gear and this one was a shocker as two entire pages of songs were taped at each side and the center of the stage. Twenty two songs in total including the To Plant A Seed album in its entirety. It was an epic conclusion to an amazing evening of live music.
