Wage War gets Manic at The Signal in Chattanooga
The Signal in Chattanooga, Tennessee recently played host to an evening of awesome live music. Wage War brought their tour featuring Chamber, Gideon and The Plot in You to the venue for a night of live music that featured a wide variety of genre-bending artists. Additionally, Chamber hailing from Nashville, Tennessee and Gideon hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama added some local southern flare to the evening.
Chamber is a band that we’ve had the pleasure of covering a couple of times here at ConcertHopper. Typically we see the band opening for much heavier acts like The Acacia Strain. Seeing them play to a larger crowd for these primarily metalcore acts was awesome as they are certainly an impressive force to be reckoned with. I thought about how I could sum up the band for this article but I think the band’s bio on PureNoise record’s website does it much more succinctly than I ever could hope to; “Often unhinged but never completely off the rails, CHAMBER temper their assault in powerful restraint, in terms of structure and maturity, balancing the blast furnace burst of their earlier output.”
Next to perform for the crowd was the other local act on the bill, Gideon. For those unfamiliar with the long running metalcore masters, Gideon began their trajectory in the heavy world as a Christian metalcore act but soon found difficulty reconciling their faith with the beliefs in what they saw in an evolving world. The band has been known for using their platform to support socio-economic movements by donating proceeds from merch sales to charities such as the Continuance Foundation and in support of movements like Black Lives Matter. None of this changes as the band leaves their faith behind though and the band continues to be a powerhouse.
Ohio’s The Plot in You was the next act to stroll before the crowd gathered inside the venue. Often in music, especially in metal, we hear that bands can’t be defined by a specific genre but The Plot in You is a band that, for me, is one of the hardest to define in a neat box like a genre. The band effortlessly weaves their way through a setlist featuring songs that could play on the radio with much more poppy vibes to absolute metalcore bangers. This is reflected in the crowd during their setlist, flowing from moments where cell phones light up the venue like hundreds of tiny ghosts floating in the darkness to waves of crowd surfers making their way over the railing before the band closed out their set with their massive hit “Feel Nothing”.
Finally, the evening was drawing to a close as the headlining act, Wage War strode to the stage. These Florida products never disappoint, they pack an impressive catalogue of music, mixing clean vocals and more breakdowns than you can count to create an insane setlist that appeals to a broad range of fans and makes for an incredible evening. Pinch harmonics echoed throughout the venue as fans poured over the barricade throughout the set as the band and the fans gave their all as the evening built to it’s conclusion. In the end, it seems everyone left happy, the bands had an awesome night and the fans most certainly did as well.
This tour is now over but if you get a chance to catch any of these acts on future tours, we highly recommend you seize the chance. Wage War and The Plot In You have already been announced for this year’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival so if you can, we recommend catching that festival as that lineup is absolutely stacked.
