Disturbed: The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour 04/04/2025
In October 2024, Disturbed announced they would be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of The Sickness. Since its debut in 2000, the album has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA and spent a total of 106 weeks on the US Billboard 200 chart. I have been listening to Disturbed from a young age; I can't remember exactly when, but I know I was in middle school when I first discovered their music. “Down With The Sickness” and “Stupify” were likely among the first songs I heard from them. The anniversary tour will feature 34 dates, with each show offering two unique sets: one performing The Sickness in its entirety and another showcasing the band’s greatest hits. Disturbed will be joined by Three Days Grace, Daughtry, Sevendust, and Nothing More on select dates. The Buffalo, NY concert will feature Daughtry and Nothing More. Upon arrival at the venue, the fans came from everywhere, pouring down the streets to get into the venue. By the time I walked in, many fans were excited for the show to begin; you could feel the excitement in the air. There were multiple merch booths for fans to pick up memorabilia from the night ahead.
Nothing More is an American rock band based in San Antonio, Texas. The current lineup includes Jonny Hawkins, Mark Vollelunga, Daniel Oliver, and Ben Anderson. Although the band faced challenges maintaining a consistent lineup, they overcame these obstacles to achieve well-deserved success. Since their debut, Nothing More has released seven studio albums, with their latest, titled Carnal, launched in June of last year. In addition to their impressive discography, the band has received three Grammy nominations for Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album. Known for their lively and elaborate performances, I am excited to see what they will bring for this tour. When the show started and nothing more hit the stage, I was ready to see what they had to offer. Nothing More is very high-energy; Jonny Hawkins utilized the entire stage while performing, walking down to the end of the catwalk to be closer to the fans. Nothing More played 7 songs during their set, which featured “House On Sand”, “If It Doesn’t Hurt”, and “Jenny.” They closed out their set with “This Is The Time (Ballast).” Jonny Hawkins brought his drum kit and closed out the set with a drum solo, along with the rest of the band playing their instruments on top of the crowd. I would for sure catch them again in the future.
Daughtry is an American rock band led by Chris Daughtry from McLeansville, North Carolina, who gained fame as a finalist on the fifth season of American Idol. The band released their self-titled debut album in November 2006, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Since their formation in 2006, Daughtry has released six albums, with their most recent EP titled Shock To The System (Part One). This band has achieved significant milestones throughout their career, including numerous award nominations, such as Favorite Rock Song, Favorite Rock Band, Choice Music Album, and even a Grammy for Best Rock Album. They have won several awards, including the Best Pop category seven times between 2008 and 2011. In addition, they have received recognition in other categories, such as Top New Artist and Hot 100 Artist. The band’s current lineup consists of Chris Daughtry, Josh Steely, Brian Craddock, Elvio Fernandes, Jeremy Schaffer, and Marty O’Brien. I was excited to see Daughtry since I had previously seen Disturbed when I was a teenager. I grew up listening to them on the radio. For Daughtry’s set, they played a total of 11 songs during their set, They opened up the set with “The Reckoning” and the set also featured a new song “The Day I Die” and of course, a classic hit, “Home,” but, instead of playing this song how you would typically hear it, they played it acoustically. They closed their set with the song “Artificial.”
Disturbed is an American heavy metal and hard rock band from Chicago, formed in 1994. The band consists of guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, lead vocalist David Draiman, and bassist John Moyer. They have released a total of eight studio albums, with their latest album, Divisive, being released in 2022. The band went on hiatus in 2011 but made a comeback in 2015. Throughout their career, Disturbed has received 31 nominations for various awards and has won seven awards between 2006 and 2024. By the time Disturbed was about to hit the stage you could see the look of anticipation from everyone that was lined up at the barricades. The whole venue anxiously awaited as their intro video started to play, which contained various photos from the time the band initially started performing, album covers & photos of their Mascot called “The Guy.” When the intro was over, the screen began to rise, and the whole crowd roared, ready for what Disturbed had to offer them. David Draiman was rolled out wearing a face mask and a straight jacket. He had an assistant take off the jacket & he slowly walked over to the mic stand before taking off the mask. They opened the show with The Sickness album, which totaled 12 songs, starting with “Voices” & ending with “Meaning Of Life.” As the photographers were leaving after the first 3 songs, “Down With The Sickness” started to play, so we got to hear the whole stadium sing, “Oh, ah-ah-ah-ah” In unison. After they were done playing The Sickness, they played 8 more songs off the greatest hits, which included their new song “I Will Not Break”, “Inside The Fire,” & Cover of Simon and Garfunkel's “The Sound Of Silence.”
