The Concerts that Altered my Life

Any frequent concertgoer will tell you the concert experience is so much than the music or even the stage performance. When I’m at concert it’s as though I can feel the energy of those around me. Sometimes the music being played becomes the soundtrack to certain moments in time & memories. The concerts listed aren’t necessarily my favorite or the best I’ve attended. Once I looked back on these events I realized they influenced positive change in my life and were solidified in my memories.

“Message in a Bottle” is by far my favorite song by The Police. When they started their set with that song I nearly cried from excitement & I knew in that moment I would be at Bonnaroo every year thereafter come Hell or high water.

The Avett Brothers made me leave my husband. No, but seriously that set made me realize I was done with my shit storm of a marriage. When the woman you married on a Saturday in January texts you to tell you to listen to “January Wedding” you fuckin’ listen to “January Wedding” & umm… I don’t know ask her how she’s enjoying Bonnaroo. ANYWAY I left 3 months later. Thanks Bros!

This is the first concert I attended all by myself. Since then I go to concerts alone pretty often now & usually enjoy myself a lot more.
Local Shows in Dayton, Tennessee
Various Dates
During my middle school & high school years garage bands would play shows at a deli after hours, storefronts rented by church youth groups, parks or house parties. The music wasn’t always the greatest & most of those guys are normal dads now. It wasn’t much, but I LIVED for those little rock shows. They helped me discover my love for live music. I even planned two all day music “festivals”, few little concerts & helped a few bands book some shows at a little hole in the wall.

Ever attend a concert or festival that changed your life? Feel free to share your story.
