My Bonnaroovian Saturday and Sunday
This was definitely my chill, just go with the flow, lazy Bonnaroo. My phone didn’t have a good signal while there, so I didn’t even bother to take pictures. I had to get acclimated to camping again. You guys, I hate camping. Seriously hate it, but I did enjoy staying on the farm and I’ll be camping again next year.
Here’s my little blurb about the rest of my weekend…
Saturday
I’m still super bummed about missing Seasick Steve. Someone bring him to me, please… I decided to skip his set so I wouldn’t be late for First Aid Kit. I will say Valerie June was a nice substitute. Valerie June’s songs were sweet and relatable. She has such a warm presence. If you haven’t heard of this lovely Tennessean, do yourself a favor and look her up.
I’m in love with First Aid Kit and their set did not disappoint. You can read more about my love for them here. They’re only the band I bothered to take a quick picture of.
Cake was fun. Their set brought back middle school memories.
Damon Albarn just went ahead and had his own little super jam with De La Soul and Del the Funky Homosapien to name a few. T’was epic.
If you read my post about Friday, you would know I’m picky about stage banter, but Lionel Richie’s banter was as entertaining as his music.
Jack White was very motivational. Best performance of the whole weekend. I can’t wait to see him again at Forecastle. Listen to his set in its entirety here on bonnarootips.com. I left him early for the Super Jam and still didn’t get a good enough spot to enjoy it. In all the eight Bonnaroos I’ve been to, I’ve missed every single Super Jam. They’re now my new “Unicorn Band.” Next year!
Sunday
I discovered Lake Street Drive and I’m now a fan.
Chilled in the grass during Capital Cities.
Enjoyed Fitz & The Tantrums, (a little bit of) Broken Bells and The Avett Brothers.
My Roo-Mates, Kayla, Daniel and I rocking our Elton-inspired glasses during his excellent set.
The concludes my Bonnaroo 2014 experience. Read my previous posts about the first half of the weekend here. Stalk Concert Hopper on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to see where else my live music addiction takes me this Summer.
