My Picks for July Concerts Not to be Missed
Christine and I will be at Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky July 18th - 20th. Which you will read plenty about soon enough. The Forecastle sets aren’t the only shows I’m excited for next month. Chattanooga has an abundance note-worthy concerts coming up. Listed are the ones I plan on attending.
Saturday July 12th - soCro’s CD Release Show at JJ’s Bohemia
You already know soCro always puts on a damn good show. You know he going be performing at like 300 trying to sell those CDs. You already know. I don’t need to tell you shit. If you don’t already know this to be fact. Then where have you been? The man wrote our city’s anthem! CHATTANOOGA! CHATTANOOGA! CHATTANOOGA! CHATTANOOGA! Whateva, it’s Summertime I’ll see you at the soCro show.
Tuesday, July 15th - Hank 3 at Rhythm & Brews
Hank 3 is Hank Williams, Jr., Jr. and being a bad ass is a family tradition.
Tuesday, July 22nd - AGAINST ME! featuring Creepoid & Jenny Owen Youngs at Track 29
I’ve seen Against Me twice at Bonnaroo. I’m crazy excited to see them in a small venue. This will also be my first seeing Laura Jane Grace perform since her physical transition.
Saturday, July 26th - THE HAT TRICK: Jordan Hallquist & The Outfit, Amber Fults & The Ambivalent Lovers, Soul Mechanic at Rhythm & Brews
They’re deciding the order of the lineup that night by pulling the band’s name out of a hat - hence the event name. So don’t get there late and miss the opener! This will be my first time seeing Amber Fults & The Ambivalent Lovers. Why Haven’t I seen them yet?! Who knows? Let’s all hope they don’t become my new unicorn band.
Friday, July 18 - Lucius w/ Danimal Planet at Nightfall
I’ll be out of town, but go enjoy this show for me. Sing along extra loud when Lucius performs their Chattanooga Choo Choo cover.
