Bring Me the Horizon Brings a Post Human Experience to Georgia
Alpharetta, Georgia and AmerisBank Amphitheater recently played host to an incredible lineup of artists for an amazing evening of live music. Bring Me the Horizon, Knocked Loose, Grandson and Siiickbrain all made it out for the show. As the crowd began filing into the venue, the stage was set for what was to be an impressive night of entertainment.
Siiickbrain is the stage persona assumed by Caroline Miner who hails from North Carolina. Miner holds many titles including model, writer and artist but after a tragedy struck one of her closest friends. Miner then started recording music in an attempt to pursue her own method of healing. She became hooked and Siiickbrain was born. The music blends Alternative, Dance, and Electronic music into a genre that is wholly its own. The performance on stage was lively and energetic, the crowd partook. At one point a lady in the crowd shouted “you’re so hot”, to which Miner replied “thank you, you’re making me all shy.” This seemingly humble stance belied the powerful performance the trio put on display for those in attendance.
Much like Siiickbrain, the next artist up to perform goes by a stage name as well. Jordan Benjamin performs under the stage name Grandson. The Canadian-American has garnered many accolades for his music including Juno Award nominations for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year. Grandsoon make music that addresses many public issues, often tackling issues affecting under represented groups like the LGBTQIA+ community, the Trans community and the minority community to name some. Grandson self-described his group as a trio that you can be yourself when watching, no matter who you love or where you come from. This garnered raucous applause from the crowd and exemplifies some of the reasoning behind why they are so adored by their fans. The performance can be summed up in a few words; topical, relevant, passionate, and brilliant.
Next up, a Kentucky-based hardcore band that we’ve had the privilege of covering before here at ConcertHopper, Knocked Loose. Knocked Loose took on the waiting crowd at The Masquerade. The band has exploded onto the scene, drawing a lot of success from social media, particularly TikTok where their song “Counting Worms” caught on like wildfire. The band always brings pure carnage with them, making music that people are all too happy to two-step, mosh and crowd surf to. And while the crowd in Alpharetta was more sedate than is typical for a Knocked Loose headlining show, their loyal legions were still in attendance and brought the ruckus.
The effervescent glow of the stage LED panels set the stage as the headliner, Bring Me the Horizon prepared to greet the masses. Like Knocked Loose, we’ve had the pleasure of covering Bring Me the Horizon in the past. This time was a world removed from those times though. While the stage setup was impressive in the past, this tour, the band stepped everything up another several notches. The production of the show was absolutely insane, multiple giant, high definition LED panels played video content that meshed with the setlist. For example, during “Can You Feel My Heart”, the band’s opening song, lyrics and graphics related to the song flashed across the screens. The band, surrounded by fog and the ethereal glow of the screens ripped off an amazing performance. Vocalist Oliver Sykes also made it a point to mention how thankful the band as a whole were for the fans, a point exemplified as the band stopped the show twice to ensure injured fans were okay. The band dedicated a song (“Parasite Eve”) to a nine-year-old fan in the crowd and by Sykes walking the entire barricade during drown, taking time to hug fans and stand forehead to forehead with them as they sang into the microphone. The evening was a phenomenal experience all of the way throughout.
