The Motet & Dopapod: Live at the Variety Playhouse
Boston based band Dopapod has released five studio LPs, including their latest release Megagem this past October. They have come a long way since their humble beginnings back in college playing basement parties and cultivating their fan base. This was my first time seeing Dopapod and now I wish seen them beforehand. It is known that the band plans to take a break in 2018 to recoup after playing non-stop for the last seven years. With the being said, I am very glad to have made this tour just in time to see them before their well-deserved break.
The Motet has certainly paid their dues over the last nineteen years touring the world playing venue after venue in front of so many fans. The last time we saw these guys, it was during the first weekend of Electric Forest. They played two sets that weekend and finished up on Saturday with a cover set that spanned decades of classic R&B, pop, and dance/funk hits. Needless to say, The Motet is one of my favorite bands to catch based on their energetic shows that brings together everyone in the audience under one groove! It was great to catch both of these bands on the last night of this tour before they both went home to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with their families.
