A Hawk's Nest Flight: Cherub with Daily Bread & Modern Measure.

Recently, Georgia Theatre played host to the always entertaining, electronic duo Cherub while they were on their Baby Angels tour with Daily Bread and Modern Measure. Even for a Wednesday, the Georgia Theatre was packed! You know it’s packed when they have both levels open during a school night. Concerthopper was fortunate enough to be at this tour stop, so let’s discuss these bands a little bit more.

Modern Measure is an Atlanta based EDM band that consists of Kyle Holly (music production/drums) and Charlie Thornton (music production/live sampling/bass/alto sax). This energized duo kicked off the night with a jam packed set full of some amazing mixes. From start to finish, the patrons who attended this event were dancing non-stop while Modern Measure performed. I got a real chill, STS9 vibe with this band and I loved it! I highly recommend you checking out Modern Measure next time you are searching for a new band. To hear Modern Measure for yourself, head over on their Official Soundcloud page today.

Next up was Daily Bread (or Rhett Whatley) who is a hip-hop producer/multi-instrumentalist from Atlanta, Georgia. He’s been on the electronic music scene dropping some sick beats for quite some time. He was definitely a good choice to perform on this tour with his unique blend of electronic hip-hop. He was recently added to the BUKU Music Art + Project (2020) while he performs B2B with Artifakts, so if you are attending BUKU next year plan on being at that B2B set or you might have severe FOMO. You should head over to Daily Bread’s Official Soundcloud page and hear some of his music today to get ready.

Now for the main act Cherub who is an electro-indie duo from Nashville, Tennessee that formed in 2010 and consists of Jason Huber and Jordan Kelley. What started off as two friends having fun and making some music together has now blossomed into something much more. Cherub has gone from playing smaller, hole-in-the-wall venues across the country, to playing some notable iconic landmarks like Red Rocks (Morrison, CO) and the Ryman Auditorium (Nashville, TN). They have released two (2) LPs, six (6) EPs/singles, and two (2) compilation albums with the latest being Gummo Season (EP). Every time I have seen Cherub, I have been impressed with their live show based on their performance, their energy, stage set up, and how much fun they are having on stage. This time was no exception from top to bottom- the set list was banging, they had tremendous amounts of energy as they interacted with the crowd all night. The stage set up was something else, with some hanging clouds which would move up and down from the rafters, and they definitely had fun all night with the smiles they had while performing. Do yourself a favor and listen to some music from Cherub over on their Official Soundcloud page today if you have never heard them before.
